This MTL Resto Makes The Most Monstrous Italian Sandwiches You Have To See To Believe
If you're really hungry in Montreal... and I mean REALLY hungry, there's only one place to eat: California Sandwiches, where the Italian-style sandwiches are total monsters and absolute units.Â
Many of the sandwiches are so stuffed that when you pull them apart, gooey, melted cheese bursts out from behind the bread.

California Sandwiches came to Montreal in 2019 via Toronto, where it was already an institution, established in 1967. It's been a staple of Rue Saint-Denis ever since.
The menu includes a veal sandwich, chicken sandwich, eggplant sandwich, steak sandwich, and meatball sandwich.
There are also mini versions of some of the sandwiches (which are pretty much similar to the size of a regular sandwich, then).
According to MTL Blog's food correspondent, Alex Melki, the sandwiches live up to the hype.
"I feel like I'm at someone's nonna's house and she just made me dinner and she's like, 'You gotta eat some more,' and I'm like, 'No I already have the sandwich' and she's like, 'No, no. You gotta eat some more,'" he says.
