Canada just won gold in women's soccer at the Tokyo Olympics. The Canadian team delivered a striking final blow to Sweden, claiming victory after a series of stressful penalty shots.
Just one Quebecer, Evelyne Viens of L'Ancienne-Lorette outside of Quebec City, was among the Canadians on the official roster, according to the Team Canada website. Gabrielle Carle from Saint-Romuald also played for the team.

It's Canada's first-ever gold in women's soccer. The team previously won bronze at the London games in 2012 and in Rio in 2016.
The win is historic for another reason too: according to Team Canada, midfielder Quinn has become "the first openly transgender and non-binary athlete in any sport to ever win an Olympic medal."
Canada's path to gold has been remarkable. The team delivered an upset victory to the U.S. women's soccer team on August 2.
