Quebec City's Nicolas-Guy Turbide won a silver medal in the men's 100-metre backstroke event for the visually impaired. This is Turbide's second Paralympic medal.

Canada just won gold in women's soccer at the Tokyo Olympics. The Canadian team delivered a striking final blow to Sweden, claiming victory after a series of stressful penalty shots.

Just one Quebecer, Evelyne Viens of L'Ancienne-Lorette outside of Quebec City, was among the Canadians on the official roster, according to the Team Canada website. Gabrielle Carle from Saint-Romuald also played for the team.

Olympic diver Jennifer Abel — who hails from Laval — is having one heck of a week. On July 25, she won a silver medal at Tokyo 2020 and today she announced that she got engaged to Montreal boxer David Lemieux, posting a video of his airport proposal on Instagram.

In an August 3 Instagram story posted to Abel's account, you can see Lemieux driving as "Marry You" by Bruno Mars plays in the backround. Abel then pops into the frame.

Knowing that a goal could win the game, the Canadian midfielder calmly took a breath and for a moment, time stood still as her spot-kick beat the U.S. keeper and sailed into the top corner.

Even though Quebec gymnast Rene Cournoyer did not advance to any finals at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games Saturday morning, he still managed to blow our minds as he competed for Team Canada in the qualifying rounds of men's artistic gymnastics.

The 24-year-old from Repentigny, who studies physiotherapy at Université de Montréal, was named Gymnastics Canada's Senior Male Athlete of the Year in both 2017 and 2018 — and, despite his results at the Olympics, it's easy to see why.
