Benoit Charette, Quebec's new anti-racism minister, has responded to reports that Saint-Eustache Hospital sent a series of emails to employment agencies looking for "white woman only" job candidates — however, he wouldn't yet deem it as racist. 

During a question period at the National Assembly on March 17, Charette said he felt "disgust" reading the reports, but added that he's holding off on drawing conclusions. He confirmed that an investigation into the situation is underway.

Deputy Premier and Minister of Public Security Geneviève Guilbault has confirmed that Quebec will hold an investigation into the wrongful arrest of Mamadi Camara. 

Guilbault has recommended to a council of ministers that "the Honourable Justice Louis Dionne be given the mandate to conduct an inquiry into the SPVM."

The president of the Fraternité des policiers et policières de Montréal, Yves Francoeur, has called out Montreal Mayor Valérie Plante and her comments regarding the case of Mamadi III Fara Camara, saying in a statement published on February 5 that her "reference to racial profiling in this case is an extremely unfortunate allusion."

An event resulting in five reported gunshot wounds occurred very early in the morning on Sunday, September 13 in the Old Port of Montreal. The Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) had to intervene. And eventually, the Bureau des enquêtes indépendantes (BEI) took charge of the investigation in order, among other things, to confirm the information disclosed.

According to authorities, it was around 2:03 a.m., very early on Sunday that the police were called to intervene for a complaint of noise and loud music near the Quai de l'Horloge.
