It's not every day you see a Montreal fashion company feature on the popular show Dragon's Den, but Mahzrad Lari and his partners at Wide The Brand are looking to take over the world with local and innovative plus-size men's fashion.

"The infamous phrase, 'I have nothing to wear'... was synonymous with my everyday life," explained Lari, cofounder and creative director at Wide The Brand, in an interview with MTL Blog.

Muse Entertainment is shooting a gay holiday rom-com for Netflix called Single All the Way right now — and people are spotting the production around Montreal. 

The film stars Michael Urie, best known for playing Marc St. James on Ugly Betty, as well as Philemon Chambers, Luke Macfarlane (Killjoys, Brothers & Sisters), and Barry Bostwick (Rocky Horror Picture Show). The cast also includes the legendary Jennifer Coolidge (American Pie, Legally Blonde) and Jennifer Robertson who plays Jocelyn on Schitt's Creek.

The new year is bringing new challenges to one of Montreal's favourite bakeries, Guillaume Bakery, in the Mile End. A fire on the morning of January 6 has forced the bakery to close its doors for now. No date has been given for re-opening; the facilities will be unusable for at least a week.

Owner Guillaume Vaillant posted a video to the bakery's Instagram page later that afternoon to share the news with its following of loyal customers who have come to know the Saint-Laurent institution for its iconic bright yellow walls and delicious food.

Pretty soon, a little piece of Montreal will be on dinner tables all around the country — and no, we aren't talking about poutine. Heinz Ketchup, the world's most iconic ketchup brand, is moving production back to Montreal after a six-year vacation and it needs people to help create a literal sea of ketchup. 

"The new ketchup line is set to begin operation in late summer 2021," the company said in a statement, and it expects to create 30 new jobs at its production facility in the Town of Mount Royal.
