Elections are approaching. With Denis Coderre entering the race to be mayor of Montreal, it might be good for potential voters to know more about his history and accomplishments.
Here's everything you need to know about Denis Coderre, Ensemble Montreal leader and hopeful mayor of Montreal.
During his time in Ottawa, he held several Cabinet positions including Minister of Citizenship and Immigration, Minister responsible for la Francophonie, and Minister responsible for the Office of Indian Residential Schools Resolution.
Coderre resigned from his Liberal seat in 2013 to run for Montreal mayor.
Coderre won the election in Montreal against candidates such as Mélanie Joly, current Liberal Minister of Economic Development and Official Languages and the founder of Project Montréal, Richard Bergeron.
He was mayor of Montreal from November 14, 2013, to November 16, 2017.
What did he do after he lost the mayoral race in 2017?
After he lost the election to Valérie Plante in 2017, Coderre went into the business world.
According to his Linkedin page, he worked as a Strategic Development Councillor at the Stingray Music Group and an ambassador for the Montreal Jewish General Hospital.
Most recently, he worked as a Special Councillor for Urban Mobility at the Federation Internationale de l'Automobile, the governing body of Formula 1 and other global motorsports.
In March 2021, Coderre signalled his intention to run for mayor of Montreal again on an episode of Tout le monde en Parlefollowing the release of his book, Retrouver Montréal.
How was his first run as mayor of Montreal?
Coderre's tenure as mayor was marked with optimism at first but he quickly attracted criticism for his alleged "arrogance" and "autocratic style."
He attracted his fair share of controversy after authorizing the dumping of "an estimated 8 billion litres" of raw sewage into the Saint-Lawrence River in 2015.
Coderre attracted even more heat in 2016 after banning pit bull dogs in Montreal, a ban that was lifted in 2017 after he left office.
He assumed leadership of Ensemble Montreal in March and is poised to begin his campaign for mayor in 2021.
Quebec sure is known for having some pretty scenic locations. Some are hidden gems and others are spectacular hiking trails that will transport you into a whole new world. Montreal has seen the fittest girls in Montreal and those who have "squat goals", but now it's time to get down to some real business. The real struggle of working out is leg day. Nothing feels better than a great leg workout, but that comes at a cost. I am pretty sure that we have all experienced those mornings after leg day where you just couldn't get up. Well, these Montreal Instagram girls are killing the game! Not only do they have "leg goals" but they worked hard AF to get them toned.
Well, I have a treat for you. The list below composes of Montreal girls with the best legs AND how they got them! These girls all have realistic bodies that can be attained with hard work and a healthy diet but hey, every body type is beautiful regardless! They promote a healthy lifestyle and are prepared to help you get your gorgeous legs ready for those holiday pictures.
1. LEG PRESS: Want to get quads like Beyonce? Yeah, me too… which is why the leg press machine is my BFF. Leg pressing is going to help add muscle mass to your quads and glutes. Leg pressing allows for a variety of foot positions, which I love as it allows me to target anything from my teardrop to my outer thighs. Your workout: Similar to squatting, I’ll typically do 3-5 sets of pyramid sets with 12-15 reps!
2. DEADLIFT: I went to the gym for months without seeing any results in my glutes which is because I was not training my legs effectively! In order to lift your glutes, training your hamstrings is crucial. Deadlifting and deadlift variations like sumo are considered whole-body exercises, specifically for the posterior chain, including the hamstrings and glutes (if you’re looking for more quad activation, I recommend the sumo deadlift). Deadlifting is amazing because you’re able to add higher amounts of weight, allowing yourself to gain strength in several areas—definite strength gains in that booty. Your workout: Depending on my leg day, I’ll typically do 4-6 sets of 8-12 reps. (Tip: on days that I do deadlift, I also make sure to get in some time on the stair master which is going to help a lot with your booty’s soreness).
3. SQUAT: Think about all the times you sit then stand, or bend down to pick something up, you’re squatting! Squatting works all lower-body musculature (we’re talking booty ladies), and it also has been shown to spike muscle-building hormone release. As a bikini competitor, I prefer high bar squats, whereas the bar rests atop of my traps allowing for the weight to be distributed evenly. However, powerlifters tend to perform a low bar squat, in which the bar may sit as far down as atop the rear delts, slightly shifting the body’s centre of gravity and allowing the individual lifter to use more weight. You’re not restrict to “one type” or the other, I love experimenting while working out—especially with my glutes!
NOTE: I’ll start my workout by doing several light warm-up sets. Squatting, in all variations, involves the neutrality of the spine, the hip flexors and calves. I suggest if you're not as flexible as the average individual (A.K.A. if you're like me), start by stretching and warming up to avoid injuring yourself!
Your workout: I LOVE pyramid sets. So, instead of attempting my heaviest weight possible weight for multiple sets, I’ll typically do 3-5 sets of 12-15 reps increasing the weight every set. (Tip: Push through your heels when squatting back up, and focus on your breathing technique to make sure your core is properly engaged!)
1. Get lean legs with plyometric exercises. I usually train my legs twice a week. My first leg workout of the week is always strength focused with heavy weights. My second leg workout 2 days later is with plyometric exercises. Plyos will raise your heart rate and burn fat. Also great to improve endurance and build explosive power.
2. Another one of my favourite legs exercise: The Swiss Ball Leg Curl. This one isolate your hamstrings. To really work your muscles make sure you go slow. I usually do a 4-1-4 tempo. Once you get good at doing it with 2 legs you can progress to one leg Great exercise to get lean toned legs. In a typical leg workout I would do 3 set of 20 reps. It look simple but your hamstrings will be on fire after the first 5 reps .
3. The Sled is my favourite toy at my gym. It's my treadmill LOL I don't have a lot of time to workout so I usually keep my training short but intense. My workout can go from 20 to 45 minutes maximum depending on my workload. Instead of running at low intensity for an hour on the treadmill you should try pushing a sled. IT'S INTENSE You can get a great workout in 20 min with it. I don't train my legs with heavy weight all the time because they can get bulky easily. The sled push is a great exercise to build lean muscle mass and burn fat. Here I'm doing 2 differents push variation: Low Sled push. This one forces your quads to work harder and the Sled Bunny hops who is a jumping exercises to improve power and work your glutes
Everytime I do a legday, I like to focus on a compound movement and build my workout around them! So here are my favourite workouts and how I do them:
1. Squats: I like to start most of my leg days with squats to use my energy into them before I isolate muscle groups. So I like to start by warming up with 2-3 sets very low weight, and then slowly increase my weight (10-15 reps and 4 sets, I don't usually count my reps, I go with what my body can do as long as I keep a good form during the entire exercise). Then I move on to twisted lunges to work on my obliques and my glutes mostly! I usually do 20 reps (10 each side) then I superset those with jumping lunges until failure! (Not on the video but I usually do them) So after working on these compound movements, I like to isolate my muscles with exercises such as the cable rope deadlifts (around 10 reps) superset with romain chair back extensions ( 15 reps) these two exercises work on your glutes and hamstrings mostly :). I usually finish with a superset of leg extensions and hamstring curls to isolate my quads and hamstrings( 15 reps x 3 sets). Finally, I always try to stretch at the end of my workouts to keep that flexibility and good form during my squats!
2. Deadlift: on my other legday, I start with deadlifts as a compound movement. I usually do around 12-15 reps with a total of 4 sets! Then I go on the leg press machine, use a closed stand foot to work on my hamstrings and quads better ( 12 reps) I superset with deadlifts with dumbells ( 15 reps ). Then, I move on to hip thrusts which is one of my favourite glute exercises! I usually do 10 reps and a total of 4 sets. To finish my workout I love the superset of the abductor/adductor machines this works on your inner thighs and the sides of your glutes! ( 15 reps x 3 sets). Finally, I finish with some stretching and always have a shake after my workouts to make sure my muscles recover! Remember to always keep a good form and focus on contracting your muscles during every exercise, this will make the difference and give you more results
1. Quads focus 1.Barbell squats 4 sets x 8 reps 2.Reverse lunges on smith machine 3 sets x10 per leg 3. Incline leg press wide stance 4 sets x 10-12 reps 4. Single leg press on incline leg press 3 sets x 10-12 reps 5. Kneeling squats on smith machine 4sets x 15reps (paus and squeeze for 1 sec at the top) 6. Finish off with alternating jumping lunges 3 sets of as many reps as possible (20-30reps)
2. Glute focus 1. Barbell hip thrust 4 sets x 10 reps 2. Bulgarian split squats on smith machine 4sets x 10 reps per leg (place back foot elevated on a bench or step) 3. High step ups 3 sets x 15 reps 4. Low cable pulley sumo squats 3 sets x 15 reps 5. Abductor machine 4 sets x 10 reps leaning forward then drop the weight and do 10 more reps leaning backward 6. Leg kick backs (with cables or machine) 3 sets x 12 reps 7. side steps with elastic bands around ankles 3x15 reps per side
3. Hams and calves focus 1. Deadlift 4 sets of 6-8 reps 2. Deficit Single leg deadlift on smith machine 3 sets x 10-12 reps per leg 3. Glute hams raise 4 sets x 8-10 reps bodyweight (on the ghr machine or place your feet under something that holds your ankles) 4. Lying leg curl machine 4 sets x 12-15 reps 5. 45degree hyperextention 3sets x 10 (squeeze glutes at the top) 6. Calves presses on incline leg press 3 sets x 12-15 reps 7. Seated calves presses 3 sets x 12-15 reps
1: heavy deadlifts 4sets of 4reps usually at 90% of max rep.
2: overhead squats I usually do max reps in one minute (lighter weight) and 1-minute rest for 20 min. This is a very good exercise because it incorporates core & upper body (scapular) stability and personally I find that it targets my glutes& hamstrings more than the traditional squats!
3: heavy squat cleans every minute on the minute (EMOM) do 2 squat cleans at 93% of your max rep! The last one is really good for all muscles of the posterior and anterior chain but personally again I find it targets my hamstrings and glutes better than quads and these muscles are very important for improving/maintaining knee stability
Your quads, hamstrings and buttocks will need rest after this short and intense workout!!
20 lateral band walk (10 each way) keep your hips square

Ah yes, competitions, the greatness that comes along with some relationships. If you are like me and you find yourself in a competitive relationship wondering what you can do in Montreal this summer then this list is perfect for you. The list below composes of great activities that you and your special someone can do and compete against each other.
In all these activities, you and your BF or GF can see who wins and who looses at mind games, strength games, accuracy games, and artistic games. But, to raise the stakes, I suggest making bets on who has to buy who dinner or so on... I mean it just makes it more fun!
So, get ready to beat your partners ass in some of these amazing competitive games and activities in Montreal!
Why not go rock climbing with your special someone and see who could climb the highest or the fastest! This is a great activity to do when you are in a competitive relationship since you can have fun while winning against your GF or Bf. A very well known establishment that is a perfect location for your victory is Allez Up. It’s fun and you’ll have a blast with your lover.
Montreal’s largest go-carting track is called Action 500 where you can speed race against that special someone. I canhonestly say, based on personal experience, that their go-carting is great when you are in a competitive relationship! You can see yourself win according to how many laps you did and what your average speed was. So make your date eat your dust!
Paint balling is yet another perfect activity when you are in a competitive relationship. But here in Montreal it's not just regular paint balling… This is paint balling on a secret island located in the St. Lawrence River. So you and your BF and your bf can go head to head against each other or you can go on the same team and kick ass together on the private island with over 2 400 000 square feet of fun!
Archery combat is very similar to dodge ball and paintball since they all have the same rules and goals. In other words, it is basically Archery tag where you must eliminate your enemies aka your BF or GF. The Montreal location, Combat d'Archers Montréal, is a 10,000 sq/ft arena that includes obstacles. You are armed and protected while having a crazy time with your special someone.
Ah yes, surfing, the great sport that comes along with summer. Well in Montreal we have an indoor arena! I suggest hitting up Brossard’s Oasis Surfing! It’s a indoor surfing complex with a bar and restaurant! So you can hit the waves and see who can stay up the longest between you and your GF or BF.
Beat your special someone karaoke style! Karaoke in Montreal is a blast and you and your date will have a good drunk laugh at some of Montreal’s best karaoke bars. I suggest Le Date Karaoke! It’s a great time and you will all have a blast! You can compete based on who sings the best!
For those artistic and less sporty couples, I suggest hitting up Paint the Nite! Paint the Nite is an event spread all around the world where you can socialize, paint and drink it up with your special someone. Montreal gladly hosts multiple events at local bars.
Simply go on their website and choose an event, which has a specific theme, and buy your tickets. The bars are located all around Montreal from Boulevard St Laurent to Point-Claire in the West Island. You guys can compete based on who has the nicer painting!
If you dig mysteries, try one of Montreal’s escape games! They are escape games in the sense that you have to solve puzzles, find clues, and use codes to escape and solve mysteries. You can compete with your partner against the odds or you can compete against your partner by seeing who can find the most clues or solves the most mysteries.
My personal favorite is the challenging A/maze game! It’s so difficult that only 10% have ever finished it. So get your thinking cap on!
Kick your partners ass and beat them at kick boxing! You can measure who wins by who can make the most kicks, who can kick the hardest, or who is the most sore the next day! This is a great way to release stress and have fun with your partner.
This is very simple... See which one of you can run up Mount Royal the fastest before summer ends! I suggest having the loser buy the winner some well deserved ice cream.
Ah yes, good old arcade games are a great way to defeat your partner! At Amusement 2000 Plus in Montreal's Down Town area, you and that special someone can go old school and see who is the bigger gamer.
Bring your date to a cooking class to prepare them for defeat! Check out Montreal’s Chef En Vous for a great culinary experience! It’s a great activity where you can see who wins by who has the best food!
The easy way to have fun and see who wins at an activity is by going to Putting Edge Centre-Ville. This glow in the dark mini putting location is perfect to have an easy win against your partner. It is fun, quick, and simple!
Montreal is one unique city, and let’s be honest, so are the guys! Guys from Montreal are just as unique as their city. They are one of a kind and there are specific signs that show just how much of a Montrealer they really are. The list below comprises of signs that show how amazing your Montreal boyfriend is.
Montreal boyfriends are pretty wild and worth it, they are super cool and pretty romantic. The signs are both SO true and also very funny. So sit back, grab your BF, and laugh about all the signs you can relate to. Trust me, your Montreal boy is a real keeper!
Calling all Lasallers! This one goes out to you. Everyone knows that each borrow's populations has their own individual signs and struggles... Especially in Lasalle. Since I grew up in Lasalle, I can honestly say that I have experienced each of these signs. If you can recognize these signs, then you know you are a Lasaller or that you wish to be one.
It's hard to even find a place to begin since Lasalle has so many things that make it unique. Being a Lasaller, I can honestly say that we have all undergone a majority of the same struggles and we can all think of specific signs that make us Lasaller's.
Lasalle is honestly a great place even though Lasaller's will say they hate it sometimes. But let's be real, a piece of your heart and identity will always belong to Lasalle. So sit back, relax, go to Chocos, and read this article to see how much of a Lasaller you really are.
Oh "Place"... The place to be when you just want to chill with your friends. Yes, it does get really boring but for some reason we all never stopped going. I can't even say how many crazy memories I have A "Place". It was the first place for many things. The first place I drank alcohol, the first place I tried typical teenage things, and it is the first place where I met a bunch of new people. I know first hand that everyone hangs out here as they are growing up. Not only because I was one of them but also because I worked at the McDonald's in "Place". "Place" was the place to be every Friday and Saturday night. It was always full of teens which created a lot of havoc. You know you truly are a Lasaller if you were at "Place" and the cops came.
The best place to gossip, talk with friends, eat great food, and spend little money... Cafe Chocolatte... or as we Lasaller's call it "Chocos". Every Lasaller knows that when you walk into Chocos you will 100% see someone you know. Not only do you know you are a Lasaller if you go to Chocos, but the waiters also know you are a Lasaller since they remember their clients. I can't even count the amount of times that I have been amazed by their service. Not only do they remember you, but they also remember your order without even writing it down! Chocos has always been, and will always be, the place to be in Lasalle on any night of the week for a good deep convo with your BFF.
Well, well, well, Lasalle happens to be filled with kids! Kids need sports and Lasalle has chosen soccer to be their #1 sport! If you are A Lasaller, you have played soccer for the Lasalle Rapids at least once in your life. Whether you were 5 or 15, everyone in Lasalle has tried soccer. Lasalle is also known for having other great sports teams such as their football teams and hockey teams!
4. You Are A Lasaller If You Know The Struggles Of Never Having A Soccer Field To Play On
Since you have probably continued to play soccer with Lasalle, then you all know the struggle of trying to find an empty field. A majority of the fields are filled with blue Lasalle Rapid jerseys or with big groups of guys. Well, being a female soccer player, it has been a constant struggle to try and find a empty field to play on with some of my friends. I mean most Lasallers offer to let us play with them but sometimes you just want a field to your own.
Oh yes, I went there... As all Lasallers know, a majority of us are Italian (even me). And speaking on behave all of Italians in Lasalle, I can say that a lot of us call each other bro. EX: "Ya bro, let's go to Lupos tonight for drinks."
6. You Are A Lasaller If Your Past High School Teachers Are Drinking With You
Now this is funny, weird, awkward, and fun on all levels. A common stereotype that is almost always true is that Lasallers drink with their past High School teachers. Most of the time this occurs at the Brass or Lupos on a Friday or Saturday night. Now, depending on the teacher this is always a good laugh.
7. You Are A Lasaller If You Got Drunk At The Brass At Least Once In Your Life
The Brass happens to be a quick and easy place to get drinks in "Place" Lasalle. For most Lasallers, it happens to be the first place that they have ever gotten drunk. But for a lot of us, it also happens to be the place that caused the worst hangover. The Brass will forever be known as a place where your teachers, parents, and where you yourself have been drunk at least once in your life.
8. You Are A Lasaller If You Don't Want To Leave Your House In PJ's Because You See Everyone
A constant struggle of all Lasallers is the will to go out looking like crap but never doing it. Every Lasaller knows the reason... Because you know everyone! You cannot leave your Lasalle home without seeing at least 3 people you know. So your best bet is to get a bit descent but if you are like me, you stopped caring awhile ago.
9. You Are a Lasaller If You Smoke Weed By The Water
You are 100% a Lasaller if you have smoked weed along the Lasalle Rapids. For most people, this location is their first and for others it's their daily smoking spot. It is a perfect spot to smoke up and every Lasaller knows it.
10. You Are A Lasaller If You Are Forever Waiting For The 109 Or 110
The daily struggle of every Lasaller is the constant anticipation of when the f*ing 109 or 100 will show up. Lasalle has a bad habit of letting their bus' run 20 minutes later than their scheduled time. This is a constant struggle of all Lasallers and I can honestly say it is the absolute worst.
11. You Are A Lasaller If You Can Never Find A Seat On The Bus
Now, when the 109 or 110 has finally showed up and if they haven't driven past you, you cannot find a seat! First of all, it is either filled with teens going to school, the eldery, or day camp kids. It is near to impossible to ever find yourself a seat on a Lasalle bus.
12. You Are A Lasaller If You Know That Angrigon Mall Is The Worst
Whenever you bring a non-Lasaller to Angrigon Mall, they always say "oh it's not even that bad!" But all Lasallers know the truth... Angrigon mall is pretty bad. As a Lasaller and as someone who has actually worked in the mall, I can assure you that this statement is absolutely correct. If you are a Lasaller, you know to go Down Town when you need to shop.
13. You Are A Lasaller If You Walk Through The McDonald's Drive Through At 1pm
Don't even lie, we have all done it. As a former McDonald's employee I know that all Lasallers have done it at least once. All Lasallers have walked through the drive through after 1pm to order food. This actually takes Lasallers a lot of effort. The reasons being is that in order for the employee to realise that you are there, you need to set off the motion detector which requires jumping and even running.
14. You Are A Lasaller If You Get Drunk At The Water
Since most Lasaller's don't host house parties, I know through experience that a popular Lasalle thing to do is to get drunk along the Lasalle rapids. It was also a perfect summer activity that almost always involved someone throwing up.
15. You Are A Lasaller If You Know At Least Someone Who Works At Every Restaurant
Since Lasallers already know basically everyone of Lasalle, each Lasaller knows the struggle of seeing someone you know when going out to a restaurant. Whether it be Kyomi, Bocci, or Scores, someone you know definitely works at one of them.
16. You Are A Lasaller If You Can Smell The Hot Dead Fish Smell By The Water
The absolute worst is the sweet summer smell of dead fish near the water of Lasalle. This smell happens to travel to half of Lasalle and all Lasallers know that this is the time to try not to gag. It is one of the faults that comes with summer in Lasalle.
17. You Are A Lasaller If You've Been To "Mama Africa"
Ok, first things first I have absolutely no idea where this name has come from, but "Mama Africa" happens to be a secret place. In order to find it, you have to go on the bike path near the Champlain/Boulevard de la Vérendrye bridge. "Mama Africa" is no secret to Lasallers. It is a piece of cement that leads into the canal of the near Champlain/Boulevard de la Vérendrye bridge. You can actually see it from the bridge. "Mama Africa" is the only name I know it by and well, Lasallers name things weird stuff for no reasons sometimes when they are high.
18. You Are A Lasaller If You Use The Big Italian Church As A Landmark
You know you are a Lasaller when you use the big Italian church to differentiate the two sides of Lasalle. The two sides of Lasalle are separated by a canal and are connected by the bridge between Champlain and Boulevard de la Vérendrye. The big Italian church is used to describe the Boulevard de la Vérendrye side of Lasallse and "Place" is used to describe the Champlain side of Lasalle. So you are a Lasaller if you live near the big Italian church or "Place".
19. You Are A Lasaller If You Go To Dawson College
Most, but not all, Lasallers go to Dawson College. Not only because Dawson happens to be around 20 minutes away via public transit but because it is a social place. Dawson College is super popular in Lasalle so you know that you are a Lasaller if you go to Dawson College.
20. You Are A Lasaller If You Are Always Down Town
Since Lasalle is located fairly close to Down Town Montreal, Lasallers will more than often find themselves down town on almost any day of the week. Lasallers willl often shop down town, eat down town, and party down town.
Lupos, similar to the Brass, is another place where your teacher, parents, siblings, and where you yourself go out for drinks. It has the Lasalle ambience down to the T as it is filled with Italians, drinks, food, and sometimes local live music. It is a great place to get your typical Lasalle friends drunk in front of everyone they know.
For those active Lasallers, it's no secret that you all run down by the water. It truly is the perfect place to run sine it has an amazing view and even a windmill.
23. You Are A Lasaller If You Go To Lasalle Drive-In
The home of greasy fast food that all Lasallers get at least once every summer. It's a Lasallers junk food dreams and it's right on the water so it is basically in the heart of Lasalle.
You know you live in Lasalle when you watch people surf in the St. Lawrence River.
25. You Are A Lasaller If You Love Your Community
Lasallers are all apart of a a tight-knit community. Lasalle has a great community and it's a great place to grow up in. You may hate it sometimes because of the typical Lasalle struggles but I would not have had my childhood anywhere else.
Nuit Blanche is coming to Montreal on February 27th and thanks to Montreal en Lumiere's awesome program, this year is going to be bigger and better than ever.

What does a zombie say when they're chasing you down the street? BRAIIIIIINS!
What does a vegan, hispter, zombie from Montreal say? GRAIIIIIINS?
Get uses to it because Montreal will be hosting the 2015 Zombie Walk on October 31st. Like every year, hundreds of Montrealers will get decked out in their finest ripped outfits and the fake blood will be flowing all night long.
The walk starts at Place des Festivals so don't be late because zombies can't run. (unless it's those super zombies from World War Z or Resident Evil)
Last year there were makeup artists on site giving zombie makeovers for just 15$ and the walk
Montreal is an active city. Look no further than the many themed runs that we have as evidence of this. Whether you're a seasoned runner, casual jogger or are just setting out on a fitness journey, Montreal is full of incredible places to run, jog, hike or walk. What makes getting active all the more fun is having a way to record progress. Here are five apps that can help take your fitness game to the next level.
1. Runkeeper
Easy to use, the Runkeeper app is great for beginners and experienced runners alike. It helps you keep track of friend's activities, reminds you to get out there, and provides some pretty cool stats along the way. Best of all, Runkeeper occasionally launches fitness challenges where users can complete pre-set goals in order to unlock cool merch.
With a beautiful interface Nike+ makes running look attractive. The interactive display can even be set up so you can manage your music (iTunes) without ever leaving the app. Boasting a community of dedicated runners, Nike+ is geared towards creating motivation and support. The big numbers displayed for time and distance travelled seem to celebrate your progress every step of the way.
Strava is the running app aimed at the hardcore runners among us. Widely lauded by fitness magazines, Strava aims to light a competitive fire under its users. This is an app even professionals approve of and use. With access to filtered leaderboards and support from a dedicated community, Strava is the app where runners size each other up and really push further.
Endomondo wants to make fitness fun! They figure if you like working out, you'll come back; so that's how they designed their user experience. Endomondo features an encouraging mascot who will pipe in and try to motivate runners on the go. Perhaps best of all prospective users can complete an evaluation so that the app tailors its encouragement and goals for their personal fitness level.
Want to gamify your workout? Try Zombies, Run! A running app that doubles as an interactive game and story, Zombies, Run! will quickly push runners out of a slow and steady approach. Fitness gets intense now; everyone should remember that rule #1 is Cardio. Zombie encounters will force users to pick up the pace...or else! It's not just a one time experience either; with 200+ playable (runnable) missions, there's plenty of content behind this concept to keep users coming back for more.
If you're a true blue city dweller, you're always going to feel more comfortable surrounded by skyscrapers. However, even the most dedicated Montrealers need to get out of the smog and spend some quality time with nature.
Problem is, not all of us have the ability to drop everything and post up in a cottage for a week. So a good alternative, is to head to a park in and around Montreal, and go for a hike! It only takes a few hours, however you get a whopping dose of all things nature, which will do your body good!
I used to want to run a marathon. Except did you know they were 42km?! Yeah. Pretty sure my heart would stop around 20k. I literally cannot even picture that distance. And did you know that some runners experience so much chaffing during marathons that their nipples bleed because of the contact with their T-shirt? That will be a big nope for me. If you are up for running a full marathon, then my hat’s off to you, because you are clearly a robot and have a skill for human impersonation.
But, if you’re like me and you just like to run enough to feel the burn without jogging the full Forrest Gump distance, then maybe a 5k is more your style.
Here’s a list of 5ks coming to Montreal this summer that promise all sorts of good times.
