Laval police say an 18-year-old was shot while inside a local library on Monday night.

According to Stéphanie Beshara, spokesperson for the Service de Police de Laval (SPL), police found the teenager with a gunshot injury in the lower body while responding to reports of gunfire at around 7:13 p.m. on Monday night.

Montreal police say a 20-year-old man has died following reports of gunfire in the borough of Anjou. Officers found the man unconscious inside a vehicle after responding to a call at around 7:15 p.m. Thursday evening.

He was pronounced dead after emergency crews transported him to the hospital. The SPVM confirmed this was Montreal's 32nd homicide of 2021.

On Sunday, November 14, a 16-year-old boy, Thomas Trudel, died after being shot in Montreal's Saint-Michel neighbourhood. Now, a march and sit-in titled "Non à la violence et aux armes," translated to English as "No to violence and weapons," is being held on Saturday, November 20, in his honour and in the honour of all the victims of violence in Montreal.

MTL Blog spoke with Forum Jeunesse de Saint-Michel, the group organizing the march, about the importance of the event. The group responded saying they've seen "a series of shootings" near their premises recently.
