Quebec will freeze the baseline number of spots in English-language CEGEPs in Quebec for the next 10 years, Premier François Legault said in a press conference on June 18. 

On the other end of the spectrum, the government announced that it would add 21,814 spots in French-language CEGEPs over the next decade.

Many of us suspected it, but new data from the Institut de la statistique du Québec (ISQ) confirms it. Quebec's job loss was significant in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic — in fact, the province hasn't seen such a big drop in jobs since 1976 (which, in case you don't like math, was 45 years ago). 

Between 2019 and 2020, jobs decreased by 5% in Quebec — a loss of 208,500 jobs, according to the ISQ.

In a meeting on December 9, 2020, the Montreal City Council voted down an amendment that would have funded body cameras for Montreal police officers. Quebec has been reaching record highs in terms of COVID-19 cases lately, surpassing 2,000 new cases per day. And, as of December 24, COVID-related deaths neared 8,000 in the province.
