Starting in September, all high school students in Quebec will have five extra hours of school time each week for extracurricular activities.

Minister of Education Isabelle Charest made the announcement in a June 18 press conference. She said schools in Quebec will decide what to offer during the daily extracurricular school hour, as well as when to offer it during the day.

In a statement posted to Twitter, CAQ Minister Isabelle Charest called for "exemplary sanctions" on Winnipeg Jets forward Mark Scheifele following his gruesome hit on Montreal Canadiens forward Jake Evans.  

On Wednesday night, Evans was knocked unconscious and suffered a concussion after Scheifele plowed into him in the dying minutes of Game 1 of the Canadiens-Jets playoff series. Fans and hockey pundits alike were dismayed by the violence of Scheifele's actions and called for his suspension.

Quebec Minister for Education Isabelle Charest announced Friday that starting on March 26, some organized sports and recreation activities, including Quebec gyms, will be able to restart and reopen.

"Evidently, sanitary measures will always be present, but we should be able to practice several of our favourite activities, even if it means that we have to do them a little differently," said Charest.

During the Government of Quebec's press conference on October 5, the Minister for Education, Isabelle Charest, let the province know that as of October 8, all gyms in Quebec's red zones must close for a minimum of 20 days.

That will bring us to October 28, which will mark the final day of partial lockdown for regions in red alert's — unless it gets extended, which Premier François Legault said is a possibility.
