The Montréal Pride Festival aka fierté montréal announced today that its main attraction, "The Pride March," will be back in person this year — one of the city's first physical gatherings in support of the LGBTQ2+ communities since the beginning of the pandemic.

But don't expect a typical Montreal Pride Parade complete with vehicles, floats, dancers, and all the usual festivities. According to a press release, the current health context does not allow for a traditional parade.

Montrealers gathered at Parc Jeanne-Mance, as well as around the monument to Sir George-Étienne Cartier in Parc du Mont-Royal, on the afternoon of July 1 to support Indigenous communities at #CancelCanadaDay events in Montreal.

The gatherings aimed to support Indigenous communities by honouring the lives of Indigenous children, demanding justice and denouncing genocide.

Data from Statistics Canada on the country's queer community revealed that as of 2018, there were approximately one million LGBTQ2S+ people in Canada.

Canada's statistical agency released the data on June 16 to create a "portrait" of the "demographic and social profile of Canada's diverse LGBTQ2+ communities" — however, much of the data "[focuses] on LGB Canadians (lesbian, gay, bisexual), since Statistics Canada has been collecting detailed information on these communities since 2003."

Statistics Canada (StatCan) is looking to hire a number of census workers in Quebec and several positions are still available in communities across the province. The pay isn't too shabby, either. 

Leading up to the May 2021 census, StatCan will hire 32,000 workers across Canada, including over 5,700 in Quebec.*

With the COVID-19 situation further isolating some of Northern Quebec's First Nations communities, there are a whole lot of hungry dogs to feed due to a lack of pet food. 

In November, the Humane Society International/Canada (HSI/Canada), Friends of HSI (FHSI) and Chiots Nordiques partnered up to deliver 2,000 kilograms of food to feed stray dogs in some of the most remote First Nations communities in the province.
