Parti Québécois (PQ) leader Paul St-Pierre Plamondon raised Quebecers' eyebrows earlier this week when the party proposed a motion urging the government to push for a Quebec flag emoji. MNAs passed the motion unanimously.

The PQ told MTL Blog that the flag emoji was a question of Quebecers being able to display their Quebec pride online — but Unicode Consortium, the organization responsible for standardizing emojis, says the emoji already exists.

These rules were first defined by the Act Respecting the Flag and Emblems of Quebec and can be found on the government's website.
