Travel between Montreal and Toronto could soon rival flying. The Canadian government has announced it's seeking proposals for an inaugural high-frequency rail (HFR) project, signalling a step closer to the major transportation upgrade.

Compared to the rest of the world, Canada is at the caboose of fast rail travel. Trains that go more than twice the speed of cars are common in Europe and Asia, making rapid transit an everyday occurrence. With the new high-speed rail project, Canada could soon join the ranks of countries with swift and efficient inter-city rail travel.

Montrealers are all too familiar with poor driving conditions. I mean…it's pothole central over here, right? So when Jeff Goldvine, a Montreal-based comedian and musician, created a video showcasing the difference between driving in Montreal versus Toronto — it's safe to say he was spot on.

The 12-second video, posted across Goldvine's socials, depicts him driving in the car and talking on the phone, or in this case a bottle of Gaviscon (A+ for prop use).

The Montreal versus Toronto debate is nothing new, but for those of us who live in these two cities, the arguments also never get old. We Montrealers love it when we top Toronto in rankings — as we did in this one highlighting the best spots across Canada to move to — and we love every chance to explain our superiority.

So, when one Redditor created a thread asking folks which city they should move to, the replies didn't disappoint. The Reddit post, created by the user u/groz_v, asked which of the two cities is best when it comes to particular criteria, including making friends, good transportation, affordable housing, and affordable universities, to name a few.

To many Montrealers, squat, closely packed residential areas beat imposing glass towers any day. A March 21 Reddit post asking "why Montreal looks better than Toronto and feels more approachable" has inspired almost two hundred comments, many pointing to the Quebec metropolis' high density as a reason for its lively, walkable neighbourhoods.

"I understand that 'looking good' is a very subjective thing," Reddit user davidliu1007 says in the post, "but after living in Toronto for a while and coming back to Montreal, I have to say that Montreal just looks better and feels more approachable, for some reason. Anyone feel the same?"
