Conversations surrounding mental health have been becoming increasingly part of the public discourse over the last several years, but this past year has made it more critical than ever. That's why the announcement of the new Multicultural Mental Health Resource Centre (MMHRC) from McGill University could not have come at a better time.

Partnered with The Neuro (Montreal Neurological Institute-Hospital) and the Lady Davis Institute at the Jewish General Hospital, as well as with funding from Bell Let's Talk, the MMHRC) is dedicated to providing quality mental health resources to Canadians, with a specific focus on the multicultural landscape across the country, many of whom are new to the country.

Bell Let's Talk Day is back for a conversation on mental health like never before. Since 2010, the Canadian company, with its headquarters in Montreal, has hosted the initiative across a variety of platforms, but after the year that we've had, the discussion of mental well-being is sure to ring differently for this year's event.

On January 28, Canadians and participants worldwide will come together with the hashtag, #BellLetsTalk, which has apparently become the most used Canadian hashtag of all time.

As the pandemic continues, more and more discussions have touched on its impact on our mental health. For those living with experiences like eating disorders, the stress and anxiety surrounding the unpredictability have the potential to cause a worsening of symptoms. MTL Blog spoke to Jérôme Tremblay, Quebec sexologist and spokesperson from Anorexie et Boulimie Québec (ANEB) about the experience of having an eating disorder during the pandemic.

ANEB is a non-profit that provides help to people experiencing all eating disorders (not just anorexia and bulimia), whether or not they have been formally diagnosed, as well as to their loved ones.
