We've got a Montreal election update for you. Former Montreal mayor Denis Coderre announced that he's officially running for office again in the upcoming municipal election. 

Coderre announced his candidacy on the Radio-Canada talk show, Tout le monde en parle.

On the show, Coderre tackled several issues including the housing crisis, the REM de l'Est, systemic racism, baseball in Montreal, and the role of the SPVM.

"I am not running against Valérie Plante, I'm running for Montreal," said Coderre. For her part, Mayor Plante said that she "looks forward to discussing" their "vision for Montreal" on Twitter.

Coderre will assume the leadership of the Ensemble Montreal party, his former party, which was once named after him. "I want us to rediscover Montreal [...] we need an alternative [...] and I think Montreal deserves more," he said.
