Quebec Tax Brackets For 2023 Are Out & Here's What You Need To Know
Tax season is right around the corner and those who are filing their own income taxes should note any changes to the income tax rates in Québec for the 2023 taxation year.
Revenu Québec has recently indexed the Québec tax brackets. In fact, it's important to note that the taxable income thresholds reflect an indexation rate of 6.44% due to inflation.
"Increases to tax bracket thresholds, amounts relating to non-refundable credits, and most other amounts below take effect on January 1st of the applicable year,' the CRA said.
In addition to filing their income taxes, residents should verify their eligibility for many benefits and credits available to Québecers including the Canada Workers Benefit (CWB), Family Allowance, Old Age Security, Canada Pension Plan and the Canada Child Benefit (CCB), which can help Canadians, especially those with low-income, make ends meet.

What are the Québec income tax rates for 2023?Â
Per Revenu Québec the tax brackets for the 2023 taxation year are determined based on Québec resident's taxable income:
- $49,275 or less — 14%
- More than $49,275 but not more than $98,540 — 19%
- More than $98,540 but not more than $119,910 — 24%
- More than $119,910 — 25.75%
- $51,780 — 14%
- More than $51,780 but not more than $103,545 — 19%
- More than $103,545 but not more than $126,000 — 24%
- More than $126,000 — 25.75%
When to file your 2023 taxes?Â
The sooner the better! While tax season is often reserved for the months of February, March and sometimes April, you can start filing your taxes as early as January, and considering how tedious income tax can be, getting a head start is always a great idea.
For Quebec residents who wish to file their taxes electronically, it's recommended to use one of the many tax software programs that have been authorized by the provincial government.

When is the deadline for filing your income tax in Québec?
Per Revenu Québec, the deadline to send in your personal income tax return is April 30, 2024. This means that any balance due must also be paid by April 30, 2024.
The Quebec government suggests filing your taxes even if you are unable to pay the full amount of your balance to avoid a late-filing penalty. Per Revenu Québec, if you file your income tax return late, you are liable to a 5% penalty on the balance not paid by the deadline.
You are also liable to an additional 1% penalty for every full month your return is late (maximum of 12 months).
Please note that if you or your spouse carried on a business or earned income as a person responsible for a family-type resource or an intermediate resource, the deadline to file your income taxes is June 15, 2024.
