On December 15, Quebec Premier François Legault announced that all non-essential retail stores will be closed from December 25 until January 10, inclusively. The announcement has left many locals with a range of questions, including the effects these lockdowns in Quebec could have in the long-term.

Since the start of the pandemic, the provincial government has been reacting to the "waves" of cases, making decisions related to which businesses will close and for how long.

When it comes to locals who make their mark on Montreal, Balarama Holness is at the top of the list. Holness is a Grey Cup championship winner, the founder of Montreal in Action, and currently in the process of finishing up his law degree at McGill University.

Balarama has previously run for Mayor of Montréal-Nord and is now considering, although not sure yet, running for Mayor of Montreal in 2021.

Quebec politics are never simple. Navigating the shark-infested waters of language politics, sovereignty, and economic crises would unnerve even the most experienced politician. No one would call the Québec Solidaire inexperienced after nearly 15 years of campaigning but for a party that's seemingly in touch with the concerns of young people, Gabriel Nadeau-Dubois, Manon Massé, and the entire Québec Solidaire crew still have tons of uncharted waters to navigate. 

While Québec Solidaire's platform is rather straight-forward and has clear goals, the party has a hard time convincing the population.
