Several reports have named Quebec resident Pascale Ferrier as the suspect behind a poison letter sent to President Trump

In a statement sent to MTL Blog, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (USCBP) agency confirmed that an arrest was made at the Peace Bridge in Buffalo, New York, in connection to this case.

The USCBP also stated that an initial court appearance will take place Tuesday afternoon.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of New York would not confirm her identity.

Ferrier is also alleged to have sent letters containing ricin to officers of the Hidalgo County, Texas sheriff's office.

In a Twitter post, Sheriff Eddie Guerra wrote that he and three members of his detention staff received envelopes. He said no one was injured.

Online records show that Ferrier was previously charged with unlawful carrying of a weapon and tampering with a government record in Texas.

The Hidalgo County sheriff's office did not respond to a request for comment.

The RCMP carried out an operation in St-Hubert in connection with the investigation into the letters but the agency would not offer more details.

In a statement shared with MTL Blog, the RCMP said it is cooperating with American authorities.
