Starting on June 30, new "large-scale garden installations" will be put up along avenue du Mont-Royal to "provide citizens with a summer experience tinged with slowness and gentle living, right in the heart of the Plateau," according to a press release shared with MTL Blog. 

There will be seven installations in total.

Espace pour la vie's summer schedule is back, and it's jam-packed with activities at the biodome, planetarium and Montreal Botanical Garden, which celebrated its 90th anniversary on June 9.

Avenue du Mont-Royal will be pedestrianized this summer, between Boulevard Saint-Laurent and Rue Fullum, for the second year in a row. The street will be car-free as of June 18. 

The pedestrian strip's new design is intended to be a space where pedestrians and cyclists in Montreal can coexist, complete with "large-scale artistic installations [...] meeting points and animations" that will be set up from July 2 to September 6.

There's nothing quite like watching the season change from winter to spring as the weather warms in Montreal and flowers begin to bloom. And, while the Botanical Garden is awesome, it's not the only place in the city to see stunning florals. In fact, there are many great spots around the city to see the flowers bloom for free. 

The Botanical Garden also costs $16.50 for Quebec residents. Again, no shade toward the Botanical garden (you're lovely and precious), but sometimes we want to enjoy the beauty of nature without having to pay for it.
