Air Canada has announced it will cap fares and add over 6,000 seats on select routes formerly operated by Lynx Air. The move comes after the discount carrier revealed it will cease operations as of February 26. Covering routes across Canada, the United States, and Cancun, Mexico, the measures will offer alternative travel options for passengers impacted by Lynx Air's impending shutdown.

The special fares are available for bookings made before February 26 for travel extending through April 2, to cover March Spring break and the Easter holidays. Air Canada plans to add capacity on routes from Montreal and Toronto to destinations including Fort Myers, Orlando, Tampa, Cancun, Phoenix, and Las Vegas, between February 25 and March 19.

Just over a month after Canadian low-cost airline Lynx Air announced it would expand to Montreal, the carrier is adding a city to its upcoming list of destinations from the Quebec metropolis.

Lynx plans to launch six flights per week between YUL and YVR as of June 23. That makes Vancouver the third city the airline will service from Montreal. Flights to Calgary's YYC and St John's YYT are set to launch on June 5.

Calgary-based, low-cost Canadian airline Lynx Air is adding Montreal to its list of destinations. The company announced service to Calgary International Airport (YYC) and St. John's International Airport (YYT) to Montreal-Trudeau Airport (YUL) will begin as of June 5, 2023.

It's planning two to four flights per week to Calgary and St. John's, "depending on the market."

There's a new cheap way to fly across Canada, but if you're leaving from Montreal, you'll have to take another carrier first. Lynx Air launched last week as the country's new "ultra-affordable" airline with cheap flights starting at $39 for a one-way ticket — but nothing into or out of Quebec.

For those who do fly Lynx, food and drinks are not available to buy during flights. Customers are advised to stock up on drinks and snacks before boarding. There's no Wi-Fi on board, and the base ticket only includes one small personal item in the cabin. Customers can pay more for some additional amenities, including a standard carry-on or checked bag.
