This Canadian City Was Ranked As The Friendliest In The World
Canada is known for being among the most welcoming and polite countries globally, and it turns out we are among the friendliest, too.
Insider Monkey, an investing website that tracks the movements of corporate insiders and hedge funds, dropped its ranking of the 10 Friendliest Cities in the World and two Canadian cities appeared on the list.
To determine the ranking, Insider Monkey utilized a consensus opinion-based ranking approach. The online investing platform gathered information from relevant Reddit threads, where users shared their experiences and which cities stood out as destinations where tourists felt welcomed.
Each city received a score based on the number of mentions, so each time a city was mentioned, it received a score of one. Consequently, the more mentions and references, the higher the score and overall rank.
Toronto ranked fifth overall, while Montreal was short of just one spot — ranking 11th on the list.
As for the top spot, Calgary was ranked as the friendliest city in the world. "Calgary, a city in the Canadian province of Alberta, tops our rankings of the friendliest cities in the world," Insider Monkey said. The investing platform noted how in 2018, "the citizens of Calgary extended a warm welcome to nearly 7.7 million visitors, contributing over $2 billion to the economy."
