The City of Longueuil has decided to relocate some deer that were overpopulating a local park in Quebec rather than carry out a "control operation," as previously planned, that would see them culled.

Mayor of Longueuil Sylvie Parent announced her decision in a Facebook post on November 23. 

The city received severe backlash and threats from Quebecers in response to its decision to euthanize the problematic deer overpopulating Parc Michel-Chartrand and donate the game meat to local food banks.

The Opération Systématisée Comportements À Risque (OSCAR) was a "huge success" according to Deputy Premier Geneviève Guilbault. The massive police operation that identified Quebec COVID-19 rule-breakers in bars and restaurants surpassed its objectives, visiting 2,206 establishments across the province. 

Officers also issued almost 1,500 warnings in the last week, as well as about 90 tickets.

Bars and restaurants that have been violating COVID-19 rules better be careful this weekend as a massive police operation is soon to be underway. The Quebec government and police forces across the province will be spearheading the Opération Systématisée Comportements À Risque (OSCAR) to identify "where there might be problems of compliance with sanitary rules" in Quebec bars, according to a statement. 

This vast operation will be carried out in over 1,000 bars and restaurants across the province over the weekend of September 19.
