A routine traffic stop took a turn for the worst on Friday morning, ending with a car accident that killed two teenagers.

According to a preliminary incident report from the Bureau des enquêtes indépendantes (BEI), officers from the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) were trying to stop a vehicle going south on Autoroute 15 at 2:20 a.m. Friday.

Montrealers will soon have a new urban playground to enjoy. The Ministry of Transport (MTQ) and the City of Montreal have unveiled their plans for an ambitious and expansive green space at the foot of what's known as the "falaise Saint-Jacques" near the Turcot Interchange.

The final concept calls for a multi-use path, rest stops, and a small parking lot.

After five long, gruelling construction-filled years, the last major part of Montreal's Turcot Interchange is now open.

Transport Minister François Bonnardel and Minister Responsible for Montreal Chantal Rouleau, announced the (near) completion of the project on October 19.

Drivers, prepare yourselves to swim in yet another sea of orange cones and road closures in Montreal this weekend. The Quebec Ministry of Transport has announced that the city's Turcot Interchange will have even more traffic closures this weekend. Drivers are in for another few days of headaches but hey, unlike the traffic, at least the Turcot project is moving along, right? 

The Ministry said that "major obstacles will be put in place in the area of ​​the Turcot and Saint-Pierre interchanges during the weekend of September 11, including Complete closure of Route 136 (A-720)/Autoroute 20 westbound between the Ville-Marie tunnel and the Saint-Pierre interchange."
