A group of strangers from Quebec's Outaouais region have won a $5,000,000 Lotto 6/49 jackpot together with a group-play ticket in the September 30 draw.

They purchased their ticket at Gatineau's Dépanneur Laval, which will receive a 1% commission of $50,000.

According to a statement from Loto-Québec, this is the second such jackpot to be won in Quebec.

$5,000,000 Lotto 6/49 Jackpot

The first was an $8,435,999 jackpot in the September 26 draw.

The September 30 winners will now split the prize six ways.

After collecting their winnings at the Loto-Québec head office in Montreal, each "left with big smiles on their faces, and big dreams for the future," the company says.

It also indicated that the winners' spending plans include the usual, touching projects: "spoiling their loved ones, retiring early, buying or building a new house, and travelling once circumstances allow."

A video posted on its YouTube channel shows the moment each household received their cheques.

Meanwhile, Loto-Québec is still looking for a $70,000,000 jackpot winner in Montreal. They would have won the October 9 Lotto Max draw.

The company is asking customers to check their tickets.
