With the warm weather finally here and the summer season upon us, Montrealers have been wondering what this summer will look like. And just like us, the team at Parc Jean-Drapeau has been patiently waiting for the green light from the government to reopen after mandatory shutdown. On June 21, la Société du parc Jean-Drapeau (SPJD) officially announced that Jean-Doré Beach, the Aquatic Complex and the Olympic Basin will be reopening in July. Working with the city, each of these portions of the park will open at different times due to logistics: The Olympic Basin will open in the first week of July, with Jean-Doré Beach and the Aquatic Complex opening the second and third weeks, respectively. The park was created for Expo67 but continues to bring in many tourists and locals each year, especially in the summer. With Montrealers getting back out to rediscover the city, it's the perfect place to go to get outside, cool off and get an amazing view of the city. Plus, it's only five minutes away from downtown. As with other institutions welcoming back the public, the SPJD has outlined new safety protocols. For example, the locker rooms dedicated to Jean-Doré Beach and the Aquatic Complex will not be open, meaning bathers must come in their bathing suits. In the Aquatic Complex, only the large pool will be open. Of course, social distancing measures will also be made apparent to keep staff and visitors safe. Montrealers are invited to make their way back to the park to rediscover the complex. And as the summer seems to be getting to closer to normal, or at least "normal" for Summer 2020, the team is looking to hire team members, including lifeguards, grounds crew and parking lot attendants.
