Montreal's New Drive-In Theatre Is Hosting A Saint Jean-Baptiste Celebration This Week

There will be a variety of performances by local artists!
Contributing Writer

Although things are starting to look up in terms of the pandemic, Summer 2020 is going to look a little different than others. And with Saint Jean-Baptiste this week, we realize that we'll be celebrating a little differently this year, too. Embracing the difference in celebrations this year, Montreal's new drive-in theatre will be hosting "UNI.E.S Dans la Diversité/United in Diversity" this coming Thursday.

Organized by Uni_T and hosted by Preach, this event "aims to celebrate all dimensions of the diversity of Quebeckers" with a lineup of "comedians, singers, dancers et DJs of all origins," according to the Facebook page.

This, of course, comes after weeks of discussions of systemic racism and discrimination across the world and here in Quebec.

The event will be held on Thursday, June 25 at 6 p.m. at the RoyalMount Drive-In Event Theatre.

Attendees will be able to watch the show from their vehicle, with food and beverages available in a way that allows for social distancing.

Performances will include Eddy King, Angelo Schiraldi, Sarahmée, Kyng Rose and many other acts proudly from Quebec.

"The event is free, but a donation is required to purchase a ticket," according to the event organizers.

Each ticket will admit one car, regardless of the number of passengers.

All proceeds from the event will go towards community programs and anti-racist initiatives across the province.

The drive-in can only accommodate 240 cars, so be sure to book well in advance.

Admission is by reservation only.

With so much going on this year, events like these are a great way to remind ourselves of the diversity in our community and how we're all united in our diversity and in our love of our province.

So, make sure not to miss out on this one.
