The RCMP are carrying out an investigation into the source of a poison letter sent to President Trump.

According to multiple outlets, U.S. customs officers have arrested a woman at the border for her connection to an envelope containing ricin that was sent to the White House. 

The RCMP's Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, Explosives team (CBRNE) is leading the operation in Longueuil, according to a tweet from the federal police agency.

Another tweet explains that an operation was underway on boulevard Vauquelin in St-Hubert. An earlier, now-deleted tweet confirmed the operation was connected to the letter sent to the White House.

Ricin is a poison made from castor beans, according to the CDC.

"Ricin can be made from the waste material left over from processing castor beans" and "can be in the form of a powder, a mist, or a pellet, or it can be dissolved in water or weak acid," it says.

There are no further details at this time.
