The Quebec Government Is Currently Looking Into Ways To Intervene On Private Parties

Legault reminded Quebecers of the 10-person maximum rule for private gatherings.

During the government of Quebec's press conference held on Wednesday, September 16,* Premier François Legault took the time to answer questions from numerous journalists. One of the main topics of the hour was the transmission of the virus in homes, especially during private parties.

The premier responded to such inquiries saying that the government is searching for ways to intervene. "Our main challenge is in the homes," Legault said, adding that the problem is not easy to control.

In Quebec, to be able to enter houses, it takes a mandate. So, it's not simple.

Premier François Legault

"Nothing is being ruled out at this time. We're having discussions with Public Safety and the Directeur des poursuites criminelles et pénales to see how, eventually, we could make it work. But it's certainly not easy to intervene in homes."

Legault finally, once again, implored Quebecers to take precautions when it comes to private parties and to respect the 10-person maximum inside a private space.

The situation surrounding COVID-19 continues to evolve in Quebec, as new areas were placed on "yellow alert" on Tuesday, September 15.
