Environment Canada is warning Montrealers — and folks living in surrounding areas — that today is going to be snowy AF. 

The snowfall warning is in effect on January 2 for Châteauguay - La Prairie, Laval, Longueuil - Varennes, and Montreal Island.

Environment Canada has released a weather alert for Metro Montreal and Laval, calling attention to a "significant snowfall" Sunday evening, beginning in late afternoon.

While we've already seen brief periods of light flurries this season, Sunday's snowfall is expected to result in five to 15 centimetres, or more, depending on where you live.

A gas leak has led the STM to shut down a busy stretch of the green line on Tuesday. Service is expected to resume at 2 p.m. between Angrignon and Berri-UQAM stations.

An STM spokesperson tells MTL Blog that the gas leak was caused by an issue related to a construction site outside the STM.

Emergency responders are currently on-site and evaluating the situation.
