On the evening of May 14 just before midnight, an illegal party in Quebec was broken up after Sainte-Béatrix's fire department responded to a call and noticed a very large gathering taking place.

According to la Sûreté du Québec, 75 people were caught inside a house in the Lanaudière region and most were supposedly from the Greater Montreal area.

On the last week of Montreal's 8 p.m. curfew (for now), the SPVM issued over 800 infractions related to health regulations, 511 of which were for curfew non-compliance according to a tweet. 

"From April 26 to May 2, the SPVM [...] issued 878 reports or RIGs and, of these, 511 were issued for non-compliance with the curfew," wrote the SPVM.

A new study out of the Université de Montréal, Université de Sherbrooke and University of Ottawa has found that police tickets issued to Montreal's homeless population have soared over the past 27 years.

The researchers analyzed 50,727 statements of offence issued in Montreal between 2012 and 2019 to individuals who provided the address of an organization that offers services to the homeless.

The Service de Police de la Ville de Montréal aka SPVM alleges that four of its officers were assaulted Friday evening when they were called to break up an illegal gathering in Outremont. 

A spokesperson for the SPVM said a 911 call was placed at around 5:15 p.m. on January 22 to report several people inside a building near Rue Durocher and Avenue Lajoie.

In a tweet on January 5, the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal provided an update on the number of COVID-19-related inspections it conducted, tip line calls it received and tickets it issued in the days following Christmas.

According to the tweet, the Montreal police received 903 calls with tips about potential public health violations between December 28 and January 3.

Police forces across the province cracked down on distracted drivers in the last month, issuing thousands of tickets to Quebec drivers using electronic devices at the wheel.  

The province-wide campaign, called "L’opération nationale concertée (ONC) Distraction 2020," was a collaboration between provincial police forces and the Société de l’assurance automobile du Québec (SAAQ). The crackdown took place between September 19 and September 24.
