Montreal's Japan Week festival returns next month with sushi showdowns and a Shiba parade
Festival season in Montreal is well underway and returning to the culture and food scene is none other than Montreal's Japan Week.
From the creators of YATAI MTL comes the fourth annual Japan Week festival, which is bringing together more than 40 local businesses, made up of Montreal restaurants, stores and cafés to help you explore Japan without needing a passport.
This year's Japan Week will take place from May 6 to 12 and Montrealers will be able to venture through tons of boutiques and eateries, all while participating in cultural activities and celebrations that highlight the rich and fascinating culture.
The 2024 festival will include more than 20 restaurants for Montrealers to discover (or rediscover) including Juni, Noren, Ichigo Ichie, Neotokyo Ramen, Yokato Yokabai and Yen Cuisine Japonaise, to name a few.
In addition to Montreal restaurants participating in this year's Japan Week festival, over 20 boutiques and patisseries are also getting in on the action. Businesses like Kyoto Fleurs, Kimono Vintage, Manga Lounge, Galerie D'Okeya and Centre Taiyo, among many others, are all opening their doors for Montrealers to enjoy an endless supply of delicious Japanese desserts, browse through classic apparel and sip traditional teas.
Fans of Shibas and Akitas will also be pleased to know that the signature dog gathering will also be taking place during Japan Week. The pup parade, which is back for its fifth edition, will take place on May 11 at 2 p.m. located at Parc Sir Wilfred-Laurier. In case of rain, the event will be postponed to May 12.
"This event aims to provide a unique opportunity for pawrents, Shibas, Akitas and all enthusiasts of these unique breeds of dog to meet, share and celebrate," Asiasie said in a press release shared with MTL Blog.
The event is open and free to all, whether you're a Shiba or Akita owner, or simply a fan of these adorable breeds.
