Quebec's winter weather forecast dropped and it's a chaotic rollercoaster of cold and snow
Quebecers, brace yourselves — winter could soon be shifting gears.
According to The Weather Network's mid-winter report card, the next few months will feature a mixed bag of bone-chilling cold, milder temperatures and challenging storms.
A frigid January
After a mild start to the season across Canada, the polar vortex is gearing up to make the second half of January one of the coldest stretches Quebecers will have seen in years. In Montreal and surrounding areas, temperatures are expected to plunge below -24 C early next week as arctic air sweeps in.
For much of Eastern Canada and southern Quebec, this surge of polar air will deliver bitterly cold conditions before the month wraps up, so prepare to layer up— it's going to be a frosty couple of weeks.
A milder February
There's some hope for a mid-season break, although any relief from the winter weather chaos will be short-lived. February is expected to bring a shift in the weather, with milder temperatures making an appearance during the second and third weeks of the month.
Still, don't put away the snow boots and shovels just yet.
A stormy March
The Weather Network's long-term forecast for Canada also warns of a more active storm track heading into the latter half of winter, which is expected to impact southern Quebec, southern Ontario, and parts of Atlantic Canada.
While this means more snowstorms in the forecast, it also opens the door for messy systems where snow, rain, and ice collide. These high-impact weather events could bring some unpredictable and challenging conditions.
