quebec mask rule

Another piece of Quebec's COVID-19 mask mandate will come to an end this month. As of 12:01 a.m. on Saturday, June 18, face-coverings will no longer be required on public transit.

The mask rule has persisted on transit despite the end of the requirement in other enclosed public spaces on May 14.

Travel to Canada just got a little easier for the fully vaxxed. Canada travel rule changes taking effect April 25 do away with a few of the more tedious requirements for travellers coming into the country.

Fully-vaccinated people entering Canada no longer have to submit a quarantine plan or monitor and report any COVID-19 symptoms in their first two weeks in the country.

Ontario may have largely ditched mandatory mask-wearing but Quebecers will likely have to keep their face-coverings handy for at least a few more weeks. Despite hopes that Quebec mask mandates might end earlier than originally projected, Interim National Public Health Director Dr. Luc Boileau said Wednesday the province will stick to its mid-April target.

Officials anticipate mask rules will persist beyond that date for public transit. In its original timeline, the government said mandatory masking in transit would end in May "at the earliest," but Boileau didn't provide a date on Wednesday.
