A Quebec School Has Closed For 2 Weeks After 20 Students Tested Positive For COVID-19

Five staff members also tested positive.

According to Education Minister Jean-François Roberge, an elementary school in Quebec City is closed due to a COVID-19 outbreak. The Sans-Frontière elementary school in the provincial capital found 25 positive COVID-19 cases after a massive screening. 

20 students and five staff members were found to be infected with the virus.

25 positive cases were detected by the Public Health of the Capitale-Nationale, including 20 students and 5 staff members.

The school will be closed until October 2. Classes will be online for the time being. 

"We are in contact with the CSS de la Capitale to ensure that learning can continue quickly and also to know the factors that led to this outbreak and the measures to be taken to prevent it from happening," said Roberge. 

The outbreak comes on the heels of an increased COVID-19 alert in three regions: Montreal, Chaudière-Appalaches and parts of the Capitale-Nationale.
