A Man Was Arrested After A Quebec Policewoman Was Injured By A Firearm On Wednesday

The incident took place on Highway 73.

During the morning of August 18, a Quebec police officer was injured by a firearm while "intercepting a vehicle for a Highway Safety Code violation" on Highway 73, the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) says.*

Later that same day, the SQ sent out a call to the public asking for help locating the suspect who harmed the officer.

The suspect was described as a man in his 50s who is "bald with a crown of grey hair" and "slightly overweight."

Several hours later, the Sûreté du Québec confirmed that a man had been arrested in relation to the case.

More details on the incident will be announced Thursday morning during a press conference, the SQ said.
