It looks unreal.

If you love playing Mario Kart on Nintendo 64 and have been dreaming of taking your skills to the real-life streets, here’s the announcement you’ve been waiting for: Alex Tagliani, the famous Quebec race car driver, is opening a family entertainment and go-kart centre near Montreal in 2021.

In case you didn’t know, the Montreal-born speed racer competes in the NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series — you know, the events where they tear around a track in modified pickup trucks going almost 300 kilometres per hour.

In the spring, while still pursuing racing in the NASCAR series, Tagliani and other investors are set to open the $18 million TAG E-karting & Amusement Centre.

The feeling you get when you're behind the wheel of a go-kart is simply indescribable.

A November 17 news release states it will be “the country’s first multi-level electric go-karting centre,” and will feature “the world’s first karting track that runs through a laser tag arena.”

"We had to find the perfect location for a mega project like this," said Tagliani in a statement.

“At one point, an opportunity presented itself to revitalize this sector of Sainte-Thérèse, and we took it right away."

And, almost like Vin Diesel engaging the nitrous in a Fast and Furious movie, racers at the TAG E-karting & Amusement Centre will compete in Italian-made electric go-karts with built-in “boost buttons” when it’s time to overtake opponents.

There will be "three tracks on three levels — one for adults, one for children, and a super track combining the two."

“The feeling you get when you're behind the wheel of a go-kart is simply indescribable,” said Tagliani in a statement. “It's really what got me hooked on motorsports and what shaped my career afterwards.”

The centre will also offer many other activities for thrill-seekers including axe-throwing, bowling, laser tag, trampolines, virtual reality games, arcades, an interactive wall, and a 7D interactive cinema.
