Quebec's moving day is here and there's no sign that Montreal rent is cooling off. 

A recent report from the Regroupement des comités logement
et associations de locataires du Québec (RCLALQ) says that the province is seeing a rent "explosion."

A liv.rent report shared with MTL Blog offers a snapshot of that phenomenon. The report shows that the average rent for an unfurnished, one-bedroom apartment is now above $1,000/month — in some cases, well above — in nine of Montreal's most popular boroughs and neighbourhoods.

Here's the breakdown:

  • Downtown Montreal: $1,437/month for an unfurnished, one-bedroom apartment

  • Plateau-Mont-Royal: $1,362

  • Villeray–Parc-Extension: $1,321

  • Saint-Henri and Westmount: $1,308

  • Côte-des-Neiges: $1,200

  • Notre-Dame-de-Grâce: $1,163

  • Saint-Laurent: $1,096

  • Verdun: $1,063

  • Ahuntsic-Cartierville: $1,017
