Now that life is slowly getting back to normal, it's exciting to know that so many great places throughout Montreal are reopening. From restaurants to public gardens, many local spots will be accessible to the public in the following weeks. Montreal's MAC (Musée d’art contemporain) is one of them. The museum has officially announced that it will be reopening its doors on June 24, 2020.

And, if this news isn't enough to get you excited, this might be the icing on the cake! For the first day of its reopening, the museum will be free to visit.

This reopening comes right in time for Quebec's national day, Saint-Jean-Baptiste.

The museum will also be operating under a new schedule, opening from Wednesday to Sunday, noon to 6 p.m.

“I am pleased to announce free admission to the MAC on June 24 for our first day of reopening," John Zeppetelli, Director and Chief Curator of the MAC, said in a statement.

For the first day, as well as the days that follow, visitors should book their tickets and time slots online. The online ticketing will be open as of June 20.

According to the website, "MAC members may access the museum freely at any time, but they are nonetheless invited to book tickets and time slots online."

The website also states that if you have any COVID-19 symptoms, you should reschedule your appointment.

Visitors are also advised to "factor in a little extra time for your visit. It is possible that you’ll have to wait in line outside the museum, so make sure you’re prepared."

It asks guests to "be on time as the museum may have to refuse entry to those guests who didn’t make their chosen time-slot due to strict rules limiting our capacity to welcome visitors."

Although masks are not mandatory, the museum does invite you to wear a face-covering during your visit.

The MAC displays work from different collections in the "form of temporary exhibitions" so be sure to visit the website to see which exhibition interests you most.

We hope that you enjoy your visit to one of the best museums in the city.
