Quebec's weather has forced Mont-Tremblant to postpone its 2024-25 ski season

The mountain says recent temps have been "above the minimum snowmaking threshold."

Quebec's largest ski resort is postponing its opening date due to unexpected warmth.

Mont-Tremblant visitors will need to hold onto their skis just a little longer this season, as the resort has postponed the start of its 2024-25 season.

While the mountain was all set to kick off its winter fun next week on November 22, Quebec's weather has thrown a curveball. According to Tremblant, recent temperatures have been too warm for snowmaking. The ski resort said that without enough cold weather, snowmaking opportunities have been "few and far between."

But don't stash away your gear just yet! The mountain resort promises the delay will be short, now planning to open about a week later, on November 28.

With colder nights in the forecast, Tremblant says it's using this time to prepare the mountain. Extra snowguns have been installed on the lower Nansen trail to cover this area quickly, while other trails are getting similar attention. The resort said this additional effort is meant to help ensure an optimal experience when skiers finally hit the slopes.

In a message to eager skiers, the team at Tremblant shared that it is "[looking] forward to welcoming you and sharing unforgettable snowy moments."

For those eager to kick off the season in style, Tremblant will host its annual red-carpet event at the base of the gondola on Thursday, November 28 at 8 a.m. — a fresh kickoff for a fresh new ski season.

So while it may mean a few extra days of waiting, Tremblant is putting in extra effort to make sure this season opens on a high note. With cold nights on the way, the slopes are gearing up for another unforgettable winter.
