Amazon Has Hundreds Of Open Jobs At A New Montreal-Area Facility & Benefits Start On Day 1
With shipping being more important than ever, Amazon has expanded its presence in Quebec and hired hundreds of people in the process. The company's first hiring blitz helped speed up the opening of its new high-tech centre in Lachine. Now there are even more Amazon jobs up for grabs in the Montreal area as a second operations facility opens.
Amazon aims to have the new facility up and running by the holiday season and needs to hire hundreds of people in full and part-time positions to make that happen.

According to a statement sent to MTL Blog by an Amazon spokesperson, employees at the new centre in St-Hubert "will sort packages by zip code, which are then transferred to traditional carrier partner networks or into Amazon's own delivery station network."
Pay starts at $16/hour and workers enjoy the full range of Amazon benefits starting on their first day of employment.
Those benefits include health and dental care, a retirement plan, employee discounts, as well as access to career development programs.
Perhaps most appealing is the Career Choice Program, which "will pre-pay 95% of tuition and fees for you to earn certificates and associate degrees in high-wage, in-demand occupations such as aircraft mechanics, computer-aided design, machine tool technologies, medical lab technologies, nursing, and many other fields."
A full-time Sort Team Member job posting on Amazon Canada's website says that applicants need only a high school diploma but should be prepared for a physically demanding role.
Lifting packages, constant moving, stair climbing, and long periods of standing are all part of the job.

Employees may also be operating machinery and working from heights of up to 12 metres.
Amazon workers also get personal protective equipment and are required to submit for daily temperature checks before work.
The job posting further suggests that shifts are flexible. Employees can adjust their schedule to their personal preference and pick up additional four-hour shifts when opportunities arise.
