In a June 18 tweet, Canada's Public Safety Minister Bill Blair said that U.S.-Canada land borders will stay closed to non-essential travellers until at least July 21.

Blair said the federal government is currently planning measures for fully vaccinated Canadians, permanent residents, and other people who are permitted to enter Canada.

Earlier this month, Health Minister Patty Hajdu said the government may scrap mandatory hotel quarantines for international air travellers in early July — if they are fully vaccinated.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau also reportedly discussed loosening border measures with U.S. President Joe Biden at the Group of Seven (G7) summit in Cornwall, England.

Details on Canada's new measures for fully vaccinated travellers are expected to be announced on Monday.
