Curfew Protest Organizers Said It's 'Imperative' To Protect Old Montreal Small Businesses

The organizers behind some of the Montreal curfew protests are reminding people to focus on the real issues and do their "best" to protect small businesses around the area.
"Dear freedom fighters," begins an Instagram post, "it is imperative that we do our best to protect our small businesses in a time of such economic instability."

The protest took a turn for the worse after a fire was started at Place Jacques-Cartier. Riot police quickly dispersed the crowd and issued over 100 fines, including seven arrests.
The protest has been criticized as a riot and has Old Port business owners fuming after thousands of dollars of destruction was caused through the area.
"Please remember that behind every shop is likely a family suffering from the economic shutdown perpetuated by the government," said curfew protest organizers.
