The Path Across The Cartier Bridge Will Be Open All Winter With Spectacular Snowy Views
You can now travel between Montreal and Longueuil without the need for a car or bus all winter long. The 2.7-kilometre shared bicycle and pedestrian path across the Jacques Cartier Bridge will be open every day from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. this winter, except in bad weather and during some weekends to allow for snow removal.
The Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated, which manages both bridges, made the announcement on Monday.

It is essential to respect the operating hours and follow the safety rules on this challenging path, in order to keep everyone safe.

The announcement comes after the bridge company rolled out a pilot project that saw 25 volunteer cyclists use the bridge all last winter to test if it was safe.
"For several years, we have been looking for solutions to minimize the risks and operate the Jacques Cartier Bridge multipurpose path and sidewalk safely during the winter," Martel said.
"We are really pleased to announce to pedestrians, joggers and cyclists that they will be able to cross the bridge this winter.”
Martel is asking users to check her company's Twitter account or website to check if the path is open before using it.
