A Guy Allegedly Punched A Quebec Bus Driver In The Face After She Asked Him To Wear A Mask

The suspect was arrested and will appear in the Laval courthouse today.
Contributing Writer

On September 26, a passenger refused to wear a mask on a local bus and the situation left a Quebec bus driver with a fracture in her face.

According to a news release sent out by the Terrebonne Police, a man entered a bus heading to the train station in Sainte-Thérèse and the driver asked him to put on a mask before entering, so he put a bandana over his face. But throughout the ride, the driver had to remind him to put it on again.

Refusing to do so, the situation escalated into the 38-year-old man allegedly going to the front of the bus while it was stopped, opening the plexiglass that the bus driver was protected by, and punching her in the face.

He apparently ran from the scene right after throwing the punch.

Four days later, the suspect was arrested by investigators and police from the Service de police intermunicipal de Terrebonne/Ste-Anne-des-Plaines/Bois-des-Filion.

"The investigation shows that the motive of the crime was the wearing of the mask."

The suspect will appear in the Laval courthouse today, on October 1.
