As of Monday, Société de transport de Montréal (STM) bus drivers will no longer have to wear masks while driving.

A June 10 notice posted to the STM website clarified that the CNESST, the workplace rights and safety commission in Quebec, no longer recommends that bus drivers in Montreal wear masks when driving.

With the temperatures rapidly dropping below zero in Montreal, the STM and the Old Brewery Mission have teamed up and figured out a solution to help homeless Montrealers get around town. Dubbed the "Solidaribus," the free-to-use bus shuttle service "will allow homeless people to benefit from increased shuttle service to emergency and other shelters, including the overflow unit located at Hôtel Place Dupuis," according to the STM.

The Solidaribus will run from 4 p.m. to 10 a.m. and pick up anyone who needs to access a shelter, emergency services, or simply a place to warm up for a few hours.

Montrealers, or anyone visiting the city, can now look up how populated any metro car on the orange line is before they get on.

This new feature also lets you know if social distancing is possible at that time.

On September 26, a passenger refused to wear a mask on a local bus and the situation left a Quebec bus driver with a fracture in her face.

According to a news release sent out by the Terrebonne Police, a man entered a bus heading to the train station in Sainte-Thérèse and the driver asked him to put on a mask before entering, so he put a bandana over his face. But throughout the ride, the driver had to remind him to put it on again.
