Montreal Mayor Valérie Plante took to Twitter to share a message of support for former Vice President Joe Biden and his running mate, former Montrealer Kamala Harris, as the U.S. election rages on.

"All the eyes of the world, and especially Montréal’s, are on the US Election tonight," the mayor wrote.

She told Harris her "high school city" is "rooting" for her.

Harris attended Westmount High School after her mother, Dr. Shyamala Harris got a position at the Jewish General Hospital and McGill University.

In her memoir, The Truths We Hold: An American Journey, Harris was honest about her mixed feelings about living in Quebec.

She wrote that she struggled with French and shared that she always felt a "yearning" to return to the United States.

She would go on to attend Howard University in Washington, D.C.
