Quebec Police Are Setting Up More Travel Checkpoints For Thanksgiving Weekend
Once again this weekend, Quebec police are setting up checkpoints in an effort to limit non-essential travel and "protect areas that are still at lower alert."
According to a statement, police will focus on five areas:
the Parc des Laurentides
the petit parc des Laurentides (route 169)
the entrance to La Tuque
the coast of La Malbaie
the Tadoussac ferry
Interregional travel is discouraged and red zone residents are also asked to avoid visiting businesses in other regions.

As the long weekend approaches, we ask Quebecers to be doubly cautious.

Red zone rules also follow their residents when they leave. So someone from Montreal, for example, couldn't visit a business in another region (like a restaurant or bar) that would be closed in the city.
On Thursday, Health Minister Dubé also announced that five more areas are entering the red zone: Portneuf, Drummond, Bécancour, Nicolet-Yamaska and Trois-Rivières.
Their restaurants and bars will close as of Saturday, October 10 and new rules for schools and sports are to take effect on October 14.
"It's crucial that we respect the rules," Dubé said.
"To break the wave, we'll all have to work together."
