Cineplex is hosting a free movie day in September and snacks will only cost $3

Free movie, cheap snacks, what's not to love?

If you're looking for a cheap September activity, look no further! Cineplex locations across the country are hosting a free movie day in September and even snacks and drinks will be cheaper than usual.

On Saturday, September 14, Cineplex Community Day will return, offering a morning of free movies, gaming and cheaper-than-usual concessions at participating Cineplex, The Rec Room and Playdium locations in Canada.

It's the perfect excuse to get out of the house, have some fun, and do a little good in the process because all the proceeds are going to BGC Canada (formerly Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada).

Exactly what you'll be able to watch is TBC. The full details will be confirmed on Wednesday, September 4, when you'll be able to see the movie lineup and reserve your seats either online or at a participating location.

Here's the scoop: if you have a Cineplex account (and yes, it's free to sign up), you can reserve up to six tickets as part of one reservation. But don't wait too long—these free seats are on a "first come, first served" basis, and you can expect them to go pretty fast.

The big day itself is on Saturday, September 14, when free movies will be shown between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. And the best part? Since your ticket is free, you'll have extra cash to splurge on snacks. Think hot, salty popcorn, ice-cold soft drinks, and your favourite candies, all for just $3 each. Plus, for every snack you buy, $1 will go straight to BGC Canada. So, not only are you treating yourself, but you're also giving back. It's a win-win!

If movies aren't enough, The Rec Room and Playdium are also joining in on the fun. They're offering 30-minute XSCAPE game cards so you can enjoy some gaming before the movie starts. And just like with the snacks, $1 from each game card purchase will be donated to BGC Canada. Some locations are even offering free bowling, ping-pong, and billiards.

The Cineplex website has more details about participating cinemas and tickets. Final details will be confirmed on September 4.
