Quebec's Department of Health confirmed in a press release on Monday that "for the time being, the option to advance the administration of the second dose is only available for those who have received the first dose of Pfizer's vaccine."

Updated data from the Institut national de santé publique du Québec (INSPQ) shows that Montreal is currently managing 197 confirmed cases of COVID-19 virus variants, first identified in Brazil, South Africa and the United Kingdom.

As of March 12, public health officials had recorded Montreal's first confirmed case of the B.1.351 variant strain, which was identified in South Africa.

There are now 44 suspected cases of COVID-19 virus variants in Montreal, according to Regional Public Health Director Dr. Mylène Drouin who confirmed this figure in a press conference on February 10.

UPDATE: In a press conference the following day, on February 11, Quebec Public Health Director Dr. Horacio Arruda said there were 48 confirmed or suspected COVID-19 variant strain cases in the Montreal region.
