The Société des établissements de plein air du Québec (Sépaq) has completed the reconstruction of Oka National Park's boardwalk trail, offering 360-degree views of the foliage surrounding the park's central Grande Baie.

The 300-metre trail sits on stilts anchored at the bottom of the swampy cove, so visitors can walk right over the water. From the top of an observation tower at the water's edge, Sépaq says the pathway appears to take the shape of a duck head, a symbol of the park.

The peak of summer has passed, and fall is sneaking around the corner with a mug of cider. Before she gets here, it’s time to make plans to fill those chilly, beautiful days. Quebec’s national parks have the perfect opportunity coming September 10, when admission is free.

Each park is hosting a different set of activities for the occasion, including the three national parks close to the Island of Montreal. The Parc national des Îles-de-Boucherville is offering a chance to learn about the biodiversity of the park and the conservation projects established to maintain it. The event meets at La Tanière kiosk at 10 a.m. and continues until 3:30 p.m..

Casual hikers rejoice, there is a new – and stunning – waterfront trail opening in Oka National Park. Located near an observation point, the path crosses through beautiful wetlands and prime turtle territory, so keep an eye out as you stroll along.

The picturesque trail passes through the area near la Grande Baie in the eastern part of Oka National Park. It’s one of four wheelchair-accessible trails in the park, and offers smooth, flat terrain for all four km.
