A Quebec resident's life took a dramatic turn (in the best way possible) after scooping a jaw-dropping $1,000,000 jackpot playing Loto-Québec's Québec Max. With retirement plans suddenly accelerated by the windfall, the lucky winner is preparing to bid farewell to the workforce sooner than expected — a reality many can only dream of.
Montérégie resident Michel Savoie won a whopping million dollars in the Québec Max draw on March 8, 2024. A few days following the draw, Savoie went to get his ticket validated at a lottery kiosk, Loto-Québec said in a press release shared with MTL Blog.
“When the lady told me how much I’d won, I grabbed my ticket and went straight back to my car," Savoie told Loto-Québec. According to the crown corp, once Savoie was safely inside his vehicle, he phoned his sister immediately to tell her the exciting news.
Despite being semi-retired before purchasing a winning ticket, Savoie has officially made the jump over to full-time retirement thanks to his million-dollar windfall.
Loto-Québec said that in addition to saying goodbye to employment for good, Savoie also has plans to purchase a condo — where he can enjoy his well-earned retirement in comfort.
The winning ticket was purchased at the Metro grocery store on Chemin Chambly in Montreal's South Shore. The Longueuil retailer will receive a 1% commission of $10,000.
